Rapture #270: Market Commentary and New Data Product in Crypto
This past week has been an interesting one for sure. This rally seems to really be sputtering out right before January inflation numbers are to be reported next week. Volumes are dropping substantially and narrative rotations of different themes within crypto are accelerating. Furthermore, the SEC is aggresively targeting centralized exchanges in crypto, like Kraken, getting them to shut down their staking services. These are all not good signs for the thesis that we are in the precipice of entering an echo bubble a la 2019 or are entering a bull market.
And the biggest news: even Andrew Kang closed his leveraged longs.
I think this week will give us some answers in terms of how much legs this rally has. While I am still roughly 20% - 25% allocated as a hedge, my base cases is that we are still in a bear market.
Separately, while doing my typical research, I came across a new data product that will hit the market shortly that I think is truly game changing. I built a relationship with the team and I can likely get you early access trials if interested, though they are quite exclusive with who they let use the product.
Arcana, the best data product I have come across in crypto
I have tried every data product I know of in crypto, from Dune to Nansen to Glassnodes to Messari to Arkham. Arcana's product blows them all out of the water.
Arcana has built a data product that has literally everything a fundamental analyst needs to cover crypto. They have a newsfeed that looks like the Bloomberg terminal newsfeed but is hooked up to all the leading crypto new sources, twitter personalities, discourse forums, and even snapshot votes. You can filter the newsfeed by keywords like tokenomics, governance, macro, regulations, corporate transactions, individual tokens, and way more.
Just the newsfeed alone is the most powerful research tool outside of Twitter itself that I have come across.
The crazy part is that the news feature is not even the main feature.
The main benefit is they have literally tracked nearly all on-chain factors I can think of for almost all crypto assets that are relevant. This data can be displayed in the form of models and charts. You can even chart different factors, such as token unlock schedules, against other factors, like price. Developer activity, transaction counts (t7d, t90d, etc.), contracts deployed, exchange balances, fees, and way more. You name a factor, they likely have it tracked for all of the major crypto assets.
These guys also have macro data like US GDP, inflation, stock indexes, and treasury yields.
What is even more amazing to me is all this data is accessed via your browser. There are no downloads. I don't understand honestly how they built something so powerful without requiring users to download it.
